UPDATE: WFAA-TV reports that two people were critically injured in a chemical plant explosion in Cresson, Texas Thursday. One of the patients was being treated a burn center in Dallas.

The initial explosion occurred around 10 AM at Tri-Chem Industries. A second explosion occurred around 11:15 AM, and the plant collapsed around Noon.

Tri-Chem was a chemical blending facility. The cause of the explosion had yet to be determined Thursday afternoon.


 

One person was critically injured and another was missing Thursday after an explosion at a chemical plant near Fort Worth, Texas.

The Associated Press reports that nine fire and emergency agencies responded to a massive blaze at the Tri-Chem Industries plant in Cresson. Firefighters were evacuated from the vicinity at one point due to fear of another explosion, but appear to have gone back to containing the fire.
