5 People Hurt in Home Explosion in Dawson, Texas

A home explosion rocked the small community of Dawson, Texas late Thursday evening.

The small central Texas community sits on State Highway 31 between Axtell and Corsicana in Navarro County.

KWTX reports Emergency crews had to physically rescue residents from the collapsed house according to Sheriff Elmer Tanner. Three residents were flown up to a Dallas hospital. Information about their injuries was not available. Two other residents received treatment on the scene.

The blast was enough to keep Highway 31 closed to traffic for hours. The Navarro County Sheriff's office said they are interviewing the residents of the neighborhood to try and figure out what caused the explosion.

Dawson is located about 45 minutes Northeast of Waco.
