The Waxahachie ISD has approved the purchase of a $500,000 digital scoreboard for the upcoming football season, according to the Waxahachie Daily Light.

At least one school board member had the good sense to remind his colleagues how much of a luxury such an item may be.

Looking at the photo at the left of Lumpkins Stadium, I have trouble figuring out exactly where such an opulent scoreboard would be placed. Looks kind of modest don't you think?

SBnation.com noted, "This is becoming the new normal for Texas."  In spite of the fact that Waxahachie is a town of 32,000 people.

I need to remind you of our recent post,  Stadium Envy in the land of Friday Night Lights.  $62 million to build a football stadium for a public high school. As I said, things must be good in Texas economically.
