Save the date and plan to get there early to stake out your spot! The 72nd Annual Temple Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony happens Monday, December 3.

Note: The latest draft of this article corrects the date of the parade to December 3. We apologize for any confusion.

It starts with the tree lighting at 6:15 PM. Mayor Tim Davis will do the honors at City Hall, 2 N. Main Street. (Crews will begin closing 6th and 8th Streets around 4 PM in preparation.)

The parade will begin a short time later at 6:30 PM. The route starts at Adams Avenue near 8th Street and will travel along Adams to 23rd Street before turning right and disbanding at Temple High School.

Organizers expect the parade to last about 90 minutes. Spectators are welcome to park along side streets and in lots along and near Adams. Parking and bleacher seating will be available at City Hall, but you know those spaces will go fast, so plan to arrive early and for chilly weather.

This year's commentary comes courtesy of Brady Taylor with our news partner, KWTX. The parade will stream live at kwtx.com/livestream. If you know someone who can't be at the parade (elderly, travelers, troops stationed away from home), please let them know.

This year's Grand Marshal is Bell County Judge Jon H. Burrows. Be sure to wave to him and his wife of 49 years, Katie!

Of course, the Big Man himself with be there too. Santa is expected to roll down the parade route around 7:20 PM.

We hope everyone can make it out to the parade. Be safe, have fun, and Merry Christmas!
