Temple police are investigating a shooting late Monday night that sent one young man to the hospital.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired near the 1200 block of S. 19th Street around 9 p.m. When they arrived, they learned that a 16 year old male had been hit in the back and was being transported to Scott & White Hospital with a non-life threatening wound.

According to witnesses, an argument between several people took place earlier in the evening. When it was over, everyone went their separate ways. A few minutes later, several shots were heard just west of where the argument took place.

Investigators found shell casings near the intersection of S. 17th St. and W. Ave. L. They are currently seeking information about two vehicles spotted leaving the scene of the argument. The vehicles are described as a dark colored sedan, possibly a Honda Civic, and a gold colored Dodge Dakota. Anyone with information is urged to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-729-TIPS (Local (254) 526-TIPS).
