A Texas Department of Criminal Justice bus carrying 19 prisoners ran off the road near Gatesville Wednesday morning.

The bus was traveling along Highway 36 when a car pulled out in front of it. The bus driver swerved to avoid a collision and left the road near FM 929. The bus did not roll, but did get stuck in the mud. No injuries were reported.

The bus was transferring inmates from Huntsville’s Alfred D. Hughes Unit to Abilene. Another bus was called to the scene of the accident to pick up the prisoners and transport them back to the Hughes unit for examination.
