At a press conference Friday morning, Fort Hood's Maj. Gen John Uberti confirmed that five soldiers are dead and four remain missing after a tactical vehicle overturned at a low-water crossing during a training exercise Thursday morning.

Three soldiers were rescued from the vehicle and were in stable at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. They're expected to be released Friday.

The Fort Hood Press Center initially indicated that three soldiers were deceased. Sadly, that count rose after two bodies were discovered Thursday evening shortly before 10 PM.

The search continued Friday for four soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.

The Light Medium Tactical Vehicle in which the soldiers were riding overturned shortly before 11:20 AM Thursday in the area of Owl Creek and East Range Road.
