The Belton Police Department will host two Youth Police Academies this summer, and they're currently accepting applications.

From June 5 to 9 and June 12 to 16, Belton kids from grade 5 to 7 can experience what it's like to be a police officer by participating in mock building searches, mock traffic stops, the investigation of a mock crime scene, and many other fun activities. Kids who complete the academy and want to experience more will be eligible to join Belton PD's Police Explorer Post upon completion of middle school.

Applications are available online, and can be picked up from the front desk of the Belton Police Department, 711 E 2nd Ave, or from any school resource officer. Applications will be accepted from March 2 to May 1, and applicants must pass a background check.
