Bell County Jailer Killed in Accident

Bell County jailer Michael Serrano,28, was killed in a traffic accident on West Adams Avenue in Temple Saturday night.

The collision occurred around 11:40 pm in the 8800 block of West Adams Avenue around half a mile east of Texas 317. A Subaru sedan was traveling west when it collided with a Nissan sedan and rolled.

When emergency responders arrived, they found three occupants trapped in the Subaru. Temple Fire and Rescue firefighters used extraction tools to remove those trapped in the vehicle, and five people, including the occupants of the Nissan, were taken to Scott and White Hospital in Temple.

Serrano passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. He was off duty at the time of the collision.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the accident. Lt. Donnie Adams of the Bell County Sherriff’s Office said in a press release that alcohol may have been a factor.

Sheriff Eddy Lange said law enforcement officials will continue to strictly enforce drunk driving laws.
