A Plea Deal Means Probation for a Former Hallsburg Teacher
A Former Hallsburg teacher was sentenced Monday to eight years adjudication probation, a $2,000 fine and community service after pleading guilty to injury to a child.
Authorities began investigating Patricia Rush in 2007 after a Mom contacted the McLennan County sheriff's office because she believed her 13 year old son was having a sexual relationship with a teacher.
In December 2011, Patricia Rush was acquitted on 10 counts of an 18-count indictment that included aggravated sexual assault, indecency with a child and improper relationship between an educator and a student.
Rush was ultimately charged with only two counts of aggravated sexual assault and two counts of improper relationship between an educator and a student.
If Rush successfully completes probation, charges will not remain on her record. The plea deal also means she doesn't have to register as a sex-offender, but she does have to give up her state teaching credentials.
