Texas Army National Guard officials report that a helicopter crash in Galveston Bay killed two crew members.

According to Chron, the Army has launched an investigation into what caused an Apache helicopter to crash into Galveston Bay.

The crash happened near the Bayport terminal Wednesday, killing two National Guard soldiers.

The Apache was assigned to the 1-149 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion at Ellington Field. The names of two soldiers were not released pending family notification.

Officials report that the flight was a "normal" training mission so the soldiers could maintain their flight proficiency.
