Authorities have made an arrest in a shooting on August 21st that occurred at the 4400 block of Mattie Drive in Killeen. According to our news partner KWTX, the shooting was a few blocks away from Iduma Elementary School in Killeen.

The shooter brought into custody was Derrick Lamont Smith, Jr., 20. He was actually brought into custody last Thursday on warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was brought into custody at 309 Priest Drive in Killeen.

Reports of the shooting were made around 4:15 p.m. on August 21st. Authorities arrived on the scene to see a woman wounded with a gunshot. She was sent to Metroplex Hospital in Killeen, and then Scott & White Medical Center in Temple where she was announced to be in stable condition.

Another victim, a male, was taking to the hospital in a private vehicle after reieving gunshot wounds as well. The victims were wounded due to a heated argument that took place at the scene of the crime.
