Two people were arrested after an attempted burglary at a home just south of Killeen. One of the suspects was shot by a resident at the home.

Bell County sheriff's deputies and Killeen police officers responded to the emergency call in the 600 block of Shaw Lane, around 2 Monday morning.

There police found a wounded man in the front yard.  He’d been shot in the arm. He was taken to Scott and White for treatment.

Officials said residents in the home woke up to the sounds of a break in.  One suspect was at the front door and one at the back.  The power was cut off.  The back door was kicked in and that’s when a resident of the home fired two shots at the back door, hitting the intruder in the arm.  The person at the front door took off, but was later arrested.

Both suspects are in custody, but no charges had been filed as of Monday night.

The incident is still under investigation.
