The body of the Bell County Sheriff's Employee who went missing on Belton Lake early Sunday morning has been found. Police say the body of Stephen K. Foster was spotted by helicopter in 26 feet of water and then recovered by rescue divers. Foster had been a jailer with the sheriff's office since 2013.

Foster is said to have fallen in to Belton Lake sometime after 1am Sunday and was not wearing a life jacket. A search began almost immediately, but was called off after almost 20 hours. Divers resumed the search Monday morning and Foster's body was soon found.

Police say that Foster was on Belton Lake with friends. Two boats participated in the search just after Foster fell in, but when his friends couldn't find him they went to the Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area to call 9-1-1.

The park remains closed due to high water levels. Please use the lake at your own risk as the Army Corps. of Engineers insists on not using Belton Lake.
