The city of Killeen has issued  A BOIL WATER NOTICE  for the following properties on December 12:

503 to 611 N. 24th Street

1201 Greenwood Avenue

City crews will be replacing a fire hydrant valve and must turn off the water in order to complete the work.  Water service will not be available from approximately 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Once the valve installation is complete, lines will be flushed and water samples will be tested.  Residents in the affected locations are cautioned to BOIL ALL WATER BEFORE CONSUMING beginning at 7 a.m. December 12.  Residents will be notified when the boil water notice is lifted.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and for making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption.  The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.  In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

Residents may call the Water and Sewer Services help line at 501-6319 with questions or concerns.
