KWTX reports that a package, left out on a bench in front of the courthouse, prompted a bomb squad response.

The package was spotted by a Department of Public Safety trooper at 2:30 a.m. when he arrived to work.

The McLennan County Sheriff's Office bomb squad was called in to check the package out. They determined that the package contained around 40 new Bibles along with a note that read, "Police Department! Impoverished Smurfs! Have a Happy New Year!"

Surveillance captured the man who left the package, but no laws were broken.
