An 18-wheeler disposal truck hit a bridge which collapsed onto another vehicle late this week.

According to ABC News, the driver didn't realize his boom was up when he attempted to drive under the bridge at intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 90.

The collision made part of the bridge collapse and the debris landed on another vehicle. A 12-year-old girl in the front seat was killed. The driver was airlifted to the hospital and is listed as critical, while the child in the back seat was extracted with no substantial wounds.

Austin County Judge Tim Lapham was quoted as saying...“The truck was not that big, but its hydraulic lift was up, which then struck the bridge. It was an accident. Simply operator error or the driver didn’t know the lift was up.”
