Central Texas, Twenty Years Ago On Video

The Central Texas region includes one of the fastest growing areas, namely the greater Round Rock/Austin area, or the counties of Williamson, which borders Bell County, and Travis even farther south. Austin is the state capital and a town I visited quite often before coming to Central Texas full-time. My first visit to the region was twenty years ago when as a very young, fresh-out-of-school radio newbie, I attended my first SXSW conference. Around the same time, this video was shot.

It's making the rounds of the broadcast community and I thought it might be fun to trip back in time. A great deal has changed since then. The video is not HD and the camera is shaky, but that might add to its charm. Enjoy what used to be.
