It's been a while since we've heard about Ahmed Mohammed, the teenager nicknamed "Clock Boy" who brought a very curious-looking device with him to school for show and tell back in 2015.  Ahmed and his family were living in Irving, Texas when the incident received international attention.

The boy and his father sued multiple parties for defamation, including the mayor of the town they lived in, big bad FOX News, the colorful Glenn Beck, and a couple of advocacy groups/think tanks.  If you going to go, go big.

Now, District Court Judge Maricela Moore, at the urging the American Freedom Law Center, has dismissed the case against the media outlets and groups.

The AFLC had asserted in a statement that the purpose of the lawsuit by the father of the boy was an attempt to silence critical coverage of Ahmed and the incident. According to reports, the plaintiffs attorneys could not provide one actual instance where defamation had occurred.

Not only did the judge throw the suit out, she did so with prejudice. That means the plaintiffs are possibly on the hook for court costs and the attorney fees for defense counsel.  Texas is one of 28 states with regulation against SLAPP suits (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation).

I hope this is the last time I write about this!
