As reward for leading UMHB Crusader football team to the Division III national semifinal game, Head Coach Pete Fredenburg was recognized as the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year for Division III.  Coach Fredenburg is paying it forward by giving the $10,000 that came with the honor to the Ronald McDonald House in Temple.

It was a banner year for UMHB football, and a season that began with high expectations and a new multi-million dollar stadium ended with a heartbreaking home loss a game shy of the national championship.  Despite the season ending a game earlier than hoped, Fredenburg is using the honor as an opportunity to give back to the Ronald McDonald House.

Since 1986, the Ronald McDonald House in Temple has been serving families from Central Texas and around the globe by providing families of hospitalized children a place to stay while in treatment.  Most families spend months at a time with babies in NICU, and the Ronald McDonald House is the only way families would be able to stay close during treatment.

In a ceremony Friday, January 17th at noon Coach Pete Fredenburg will present the Ronald McDonald House with a $10,000 check.  The money was awarded to Fredenburg by Liberty Mutual for his Coach of the Year honor.  The public is welcome to be part of the ceremony at 2415 S. 47th St in Temple by parking in the parking lot south of the Ronald McDonald House.
