Copperas Cove Amber Alert for Missing Toddler

On Tuesday, an Amber Alert was issued for 2-year-old Jaelyn Gucciana Johnson, who was taken by her biological mother from her grandparents' home in Copperas Cove. The grandparents have legal custody of the toddler.

The girl was taken on August 5, just before 10 a.m., and the grandparents filed a missing persons report on August 9.

The grandparents told police they spoke with the mother, Shameka Denise Johnson, last Thursday. Johnson told them the child was no longer in their care, and that she would be cutting off her cellphone so she could not be tracked.

Cove police believe Johnson is staying with friends in the Killeen area.

The child is black with black eyes and brown hair and weighs about 40 pounds. Johnson is black, 5-foot-4, and weighs around 165 pounds. She is suspected of using narcotics.
