Cove Amber Alert Ends

Police in Copperas Cove returned 2-year-old Jaelyn Gucciana Johnson to her grandparents on Wednesday after arresting the girl's mother in Killeen.

Shemeka Denise Johnson was arrested by Copperas Cove police, U.S. Marshals, and the Bell County Organized Crime Unit at 3:50 Wednesday afternoon. Johnson provided the address where her daughter could be found.

The girl was recovered unharmed from a residence on South Sixth Street in Killeen at 4:20.

Jaelyn's grandparents have legal custody of the child. They reported her missing after she was taken by her mother on August 5. On August 8, Johnson refused to give the location of the girl.

Johnson is awaiting charges in Bell County Jail, and the case is under investigation.
