After a victory over the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh of 10-7 in the 44th Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl last year, UMHB made history with its first NCAA Division 3 National Championship.

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has made even more history this preseason. The results of the D3football.com preseason Top 25 poll have been released, and UMHB has been ranked #1.

This accolade is another first for the UMHB's football program. The Crusaders received 16 of the 25 votes for the #1 spot.

The University of Wisconsin Whitewater received four first place votes, University of Mount Union received three first place votes, and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh round out the first place votes with two.

The Crusaders are looking to repeat the success of last season and once again emerge as national champions. There are many weapons that were lost from the team with the graduation of seniors, but there are several players returning who are ready to pick up where they left off.

The UMHB Crusaders begin their season against an American Southwest Conference foe, Sul Ross State. Kickoff is Saturday, September 9 at 6 p.m at Crusader Stadium.
