WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz says he's worried that the mass shooting in California may be an act of what he's calling "Islamic terrorism."

The Texas senator made the comment Thursday in Washington at a meeting of the Republican Jewish Coalition.

The FBI has said it's investigating several possible motives, including workplace violence and terrorism. They have not elaborated.

His appearance began with a moment of silence for the victims of the attack in San Bernardino that left 14 people dead and many others wounded.

Cruz told the crowd of Jewish activists that "all of us are deeply concerned that this is yet another manifestation of terrorism, radical Islamic terrorism here at home."
