It's been understood that Austin is the Liberal Mecca of Texas, but it seems Dallas wants to take a shot at dethroning the capital.

Like any good Texas city, they're going big right off the bat. They've decided to become one of the Greenest cities in, not only Texas, but, the country.

According to the Inhabitat, Dallas will be home to one of the country's largest urban nature parks. It'll be a whole district, a "Nature District". Unless someone finds the word "District" offensive that is.

Whatever the final non-offensive name will be, the park itself will include 10,000 amazing acres - 7,000 acres of the Great Trinity Forest.

The Trinity River Park was designed by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates. This could revitalize a Dallas floodplain into a lush green recreation space. It'll have playgrounds, lawns, and riverside trails. You know, for the mosquitoes.

A thousand acres of the Great Trinity Forest has already been developed into a golf club, the Texas Horse Park, and the Trinity River Audubon Center.

According to Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, the park received a boost with a $50 million dollar donation in October. He said the park will "redefine Dallas for the 21st Century".
