In a news release issued Monday afternoon, Temple Police Department spokeswoman Shawana Neely identified the victim as 49-year-old Archie Geiger.

According to Neely, an autopsy revealed that Geiger died as a result of a gunshot wound, and investigators believe he was murdered.

Police found Geiger's body in a home in the 1300 block of North 2nd Street shortly after 2:20 Am Sunday. They were alerted to the situation by a man who said he'd gone to visit Geiger and discovered him lying dead on the floor. The man called police from the CEFCO convenience store at 605 North 3rd and led them to Geiger's body.
