April 26th, 1986, the worst nuclear power plant accident, in terms of cost and casualties, occurred at Chernobyl. 31 people died, and long term effects are still be accounted for.

The near by city of Pripyat was not told. People went about their daily routine until dozens of people started falling ill with headaches and metallic tastes in their mouth. When they were finally told to evacuate they were informed it would only be for a few days, so they ended up leaving all their personal possessions behind. They're still their to this day. CBS cameraman Danny Cook, posted video of what the town looks like today. It seems the land is taking it back.
