This extreme heat has taken a toll on everyone in the Central Texas, but imagine having to extinguish a huge fire in these conditions. Firefighters across Texas have been dealing with that reality all summer, including crews in Waco who encountered a challenge Monday.

KWTX reports that firefighters had to battle flames at a Waco manufacturing plant Monday evening. The manufacturing plant was the Hobbs Bonded Fibers plant at 200 Commerce St. in Waco.

A  fire crew was passing by the plant when they noticed smoke coming from the building. The crew notified Waco's Fire Department dispatcher, and multiple fire units were dispatched. The building had already been evacuated.

An employee said the plant's sprinkler system had extinguished parts of the fire before the fire crews got there, but the firefighters did find flames still active. Slightly before 7:00 p.m., fire crews were looking for hot spots in the ceiling .

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by crews.
