News 10 is reporting that a former Central Texas TV anchor will run for the Dist. 4 seat on the Temple City Council.

The former KCEN-TV news anchor Anthony “Tony” Hennes plans to announce his candidacy this Thursday.

KWTX said, "Former Dist. 4 Temple City Councilman Michael Pilkington's resigned abruptly on Jan. 14, days after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor deadly conduct charge in Corpus Christi, court records show. Under Temple's City Charter, the council may fill a vacancy if there is a year or less left on the unexpired term. Pilkington was elected to represent Dist. 4 in May of 2016 and would have been up for re-election in May."

Hennes, 72, spent 10 years worked for the City of Temple as a public information officer. During this time, he served as the spokesman for both the mayor and council.

“I will be announcing my candidacy for the Temple City Council District 4 seat at a news conference in the council chambers at 10 a.m. Thursday morning. Thank you for your encouragement,” said Hennes via a Facebook post.
