Fort Hood Solder Killed Crossing The Street

KILLEEN - Killeen Police are investigating a wreck that left a Fort Hood soldier dead on Friday night.

A witness flagged down Killeen Police, who responded to the accident in the 4000 block of S. Fort Hood St. at 11:14 p.m. There they found a 38-year-old soldier, Juan Mendoza Vargas, who had tried to cross the street and was hit.

Witnesses told police a 2000 Mustang traveling south in the inside lane of S. Fort Hood St. hit Vargas when he stepped out into the path of the car.

Vargas was pronounced dead at the scene. Killeen Police are still investigating the crash.
