Super heroes aren't really created by toxic waste, so dispose of unwanted materials this weekend in Temple.

According to a press release from the City of Temple, the annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection event will be held this Saturday, October 24 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

You can stop by the Temple Service Center located at 3210 E. Avenue H, and free yourself from hazardous waste that you've been holding on to. Unfortunately ex-lovers do not qualify for disposal, so don't ask.

Here's a list of items that do qualify:

  • household cleaning chemicals
  • automotive fluids
  • paint products
  • gardening chemicals
  • computers
  • cell phones
  • batteries
  • ink cartridges

A definite plus for the event is that you won't even have to get out of your car. Of course, since the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing, you will need to wear a mask to protect yourself and event staff. All items for disposal must be able to be accessed without anyone exiting the vehicle.

You can even dispose of  up to four tires for free. If you have more than 4 tires to dispose of, then there will be a disposal fee of $3 per tire. A maximum of 12 tires will be accepted per carload. Any tires over 22 inches will cost $5 per tire.

For more information, visit templetx.gov/hhw or call 254-298-5725.

Let's all do our part to keep the city landfill and our fields and roadsides free of hazardous materials.
