A family of six in Temple was displaced Friday after their home received structural damage from a fire.

Temple Fire and Rescue responded to the fire at 709 North 6th Street at Noon. When they arrived, heavy fire and smoke were seen in the south and rear portions of the single-story, wood-framed house.

Fire crews had the blaze under control by 12:24 PM, but the fire and smoke rendered the home uninhabitable.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The family of six is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

Fire Chief Mitch Randles said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
