Frisco Texas School District Could Ask Students To Pay To Play Sports

KDFW is reporting that students in the Frisco Independent School District may soon be asked to pay to participate in school athletics. These North Texas students may also be asked to contribute to the schools janitorial efforts, as cuts have been made to the cleaning staff.

The reason for the changes? The district is facing a $30 million dollar shortfall over the next couple of years.  It's hard to find additional funding, as voters said no to a property tax increase to help fund the schools. Frisco ISD is also considering charging for parking at school activities and increasing the cost of admission at athletic events.

The district is proposing that middle school students would pay as much as $100 to participate in athletics and activities, while high school students would pay as much as $200, according to WBAP.
