There is a strong cold front moving through Central Texas this Friday that will leave much cooler temperatures in place for the weekend.

While the National Weather Service is not anticipating severe weather as part of this cold front, some rain will be possible along with stronger wind gusts. Rain chances will be about 70% for the area by Friday afternoon.

Some of the coldest temps all year are expected for Saturday morning when temperatures will be around 40 degrees in the region. Near freezing temperatures could be in store for early Sunday. Plants sensitive to cold temperatures should be protected ahead of what could be our first freeze of the winter.

The coldest temperatures are expected to be North of Interstate 20 and West of I-35.
