TEXAS CITY, Texas (AP) — A 15-year-old Southeast Texas girl has been treated for a concussion after two school buses collided while transporting band students.

The Galveston County Daily News reported Monday that the wreck involved buses from the Texas City Independent School District.

Officials say one bus rear-ended the other Saturday while bound for Galena Park. Four buses were hauling about 130 band students to a University Interscholastic League competition.

Students whose parents were not on the trip to told to contact their families about the accident. The mother of the injured girl complained she wasn't notified by the school and heard about the wreck from another band parent.

District spokeswoman Michelle Tortorici (tor-tuh-REE'-see) has apologized and said appropriate communication procedures weren't followed.

A message left with the district wasn't immediately returned Monday.
