Michelle Carter, executive director of Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas, stopped in to talk to Jamie Garrett about #GivingTuesday, a global initiative focused on local giving.

Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas helps on a year-round basis assisting children that are victims of abuse and neglect.  A sad, alarming fact about Bell County is our high rate of child abuse ranks near the top in per capita child abuse in Texas.  CACCT works with children throughout the court process, including child-friendly forensic interviews, trauma-focused counseling provided free of charge, and countless families receiving advocacy and support beyond the investigation.

The Blue Envelope Campaign for CACCT raises money for the services provided, and the blue envelopes represent the hundreds of families and individuals that receive support from the organization.  #GivingTuesday is a global initiative that encourages giving on a local level.  The day is in its 3rd year, and provides a reason to focus on the real magic of the season, people helping people in ways they may not normally if not for the season.

Visit the GoFundMe page for CACCT to give in a simple, secure fashion.  The money goes to work right here in our own community, Bell County, providing services for the tragically-high rate of child abuse and neglect victims.  Spread the news, spread the #GivingTuesday hashtag and spread the joy of the season by giving to those in need in our own community.
