All eyes are on acclaimed horror director Guillermo del Toro to deliver in this summer's monster blockbuster 'Pacific Rim,' as well as our continued interest in FX's adaptation of 'The Strain,' but del Toro's next 'Monster' project might be somewhere in between. The 'Pan's Labrynth' director has reportedly teamed with HBO to develop a series based on beloved Naoki Urasawa manga series 'Monster,' but is the concept too out there even for HBO?

We've been waiting for years to see 'Pacific Rim' creator Guillermo del Toro take his talents to TV, especially with his 'Incredible Hulk' series appearing increasingly unlikely, but it seems the director has found a TV 'Monster' of a different kind. Deadline reports that del Toro will partner with HBO and 'Doctor Who' writer Steven Thompson for a series adaptation of supernatural manga series 'Monster.'

Penned by author Naoki Urasawa published by Shogakukan Inc., 'Monster' follows a young doctor's worldwide search for the most evil sociopath that has ever lived, finding it to be a mere 12-year-old boy. The doctor’s decision to save the boy's life has the consequences of unwittingly unleashed a Pandora’s Box that leaves the doctor struggling to stop a mass genocide.

Del Toro will serve as pilot director and executive producer, Thompson acting as co-executive producer, with Angry Films’ partners Don Murphy and Susan Montford executive producing with Exile’s Gary Ungar. Shogakukan will also act as a consulting producer. Del Toro had previously attempted to spin 'Monster' into a film, and reportedly took a long time to convince creator Urasawa to grow comfortable with the Hollywood process.

What say you? Would you be interested to see 'Monster' brought to life as an HBO series with Guillermo Del Toro?
