Harker Heights police are investigating an apparent homicide committed in the 100 block of East Central Texas Expressway.

Sgt. Steve Miller said Tuesday that officers responded to a report of a man having been shot around 11:20 PM Monday. The first officers on the scene found a man dead with a gunshot wound in a driveway between two businesses. Miller did not specify which businesses.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Bell County Justice of the Peace Claudio Brown, who ordered an autopsy.

Police believe they may know the man's identity, but were withholding it Tuesday pending confirmation. Miller would only say that the victim is Caucasian.
