Two would-be robbers are on the run after their crime was thwarted by a couple armed only with a dustpan.

According to witnesses, two men wearing bandanas over their faces entered a Quick Stop convenience store in the 3300 block of Robinson Drive in Waco Wednesday night shortly before 10pm and demanded cash from the register.

Another man in the store then began fighting with the suspect armed with a gun, while his wife brandished a nearby dustpan and fought with the suspect wielding a knife. According to Waco PD Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, the two robbers “got freaked out and ran from the store” after their plan was interrupted.

When police arrived, they searched the surrounding area, but were unable to locate the suspects. A search for the two men continued Thursday.

No injuries were reported.
