Last week the Temple Wildcats traveled across town for the Leon River Rivalry against the Belton Tigers. The Wildcats were methodical, scoring 7 points in each quarter to make the final score 28-20.  The Wildcat offense was led by Reid Hesse's 219 passing yards on 17-26 passing attempts for a 58% completion rate and a passing TD with no interceptions.  Jemiyah Franklin led all ball carriers with 150 yards and two TDs on 18 carries for a 6.7 yard average.  D'Yonte Heckstall was a standout at receiver with 110 yards on 6 receptions for an 18.3 yards per reception average.

The Wildcat defense was led by outstanding plays all over the field from DE Taquon Graham, Tackle Robert Jackson, LB/DE AJ Gulley, Safeties Ashton Logan and Monto President, Jr. and CB BJ Skulark. The Wildcats were down 17-14 at halftime, but the vaunted defensive unit pinned their ears back after the half and held the high-octane Belton Tiger offense to about 100 total yards and only one field goal.

This week the 1-0 Wildcats have their home opener against old foe the Round Rock Dragons.  As is their recipe, the Class 6A Round Rock Dragons are expected to try to control the game with their massive offensive line, led by Tyler Casteneda (6'3", 305), and pound away with RB Malik Pena (5'10", 200), while also trying to control the line of scrimmage on defense.  The Wildcats have had their way with Round Rock in recent years, and expect this trend to continue.

Tune in for the action on Friday night!!!  Pre-game starts at 7:00, and kickoff is set for 7:30!!  GO BIG BLUE!!!!
