KWTX is reporting that State District Judge Ralph Strother, the judge behind the verdict that will keep alleged rapist Jacob Anderson from any jail time, has received death threats following his decision.

Strother accepted the states plea deal on Monday to no contest to the charge of a third-degree felony.

Anderson was originally indicted on multiple accounts of sexual assault following an alleged 2015 rape while he attended Baylor.

KWTX said, "Since the sentencing Monday, Strother said, he has received a large number of emails attacking him and his family including one whose writer expressed a hope for his 'premature death.'"

The alleged rape left the victim unconscious outside on the ground.

Sarah Byers, a Baylor graduate, has started a Care2 petition drive to call for Strother's resignation.

“This is for the many women who ultimately do not report incidents, and for women in the future who will be afraid to report,” Byers said.
More than 5,000 people have signed the petition.

Strother's Judge term is up in 2020.
