Police in Bell County are searching for a man who shot KCEN-TV meteorologist Patrick Crawford outside of the television station Wednesday morning.

According to DPS officials, Crawford was leaving the building around 9:15 AM when he was approached by a man in his 30’s. The two exchanged words and Crawford was shot in the torso and arm either right before or right as he was getting into his car.

Crawford was able to drive around 200 feet from the station before stopping near I-35 and requesting help from nearby construction workers. He was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple where friends and family say he is recovering after surgery.

The suspect is described as a white male, age 30-35 with a receding hairline, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark denim jeans. Area schools have been placed on lockdown as police continue their search.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
