A Killeen daycare owner accused of leaving a baby alone in a bathtub in January was named in an indictment Wednesday.

48-year-old Janine Marie Wesson was indicted by a grand jury on a felony charge of abandoning or endangering a child with intent to return.

Wesson was operating an unlicensed daycare out of her home in the 2000 block of Bachelor Button Dr. in Killeen when, on Wednesday, January 13, she allegedly left a 2-month-old boy alone in a bathtub to investigate a sound made by children in another room. When she returned, the boy was lying face-down in the tub and was unresponsive.

The baby spent weeks in the intensive care unit at Temple's McLane's Children's Hospital before being released in good condition on Monday, February 8.

Wesson was arrested without incident at her home on Wednesday, February 17. She later bonded out of the Bell County Jail.

An investigation revealed that Wesson's home daycare was not registered.
