KWTX's Chelsea Edwards reported that an early morning fire in Killeen damaged a home badly, and also led to neighbors evacuating from their own homes.

Killeen firefighters arrived on the scene just before 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The firefighters reported to the scene at the 1300 block of Becker Road.

When the first crew arrived on the scene, the flames engulfed the front portion of the home. The flames were brewing from a fireplace, which is where fire crews believe the fire began to break out.

There was smoke damage inside of the residence, a fire damaged attic, and the front exterior of the home was also fire damaged.

With the great size of the fire and high speed winds, homes in the vicinity were evacuated for the safety of the neighbors. Fire crews took about 20 minutes to get the fire handled.

A man was displaced by the fire, and two women were as well who frequently visit the home. The American Red Cross was called in to help the resident with his loss.
