It's almost time for the kids to go back to school, and we already know that kids tend to forget some of the things they learned in the previous school year. That's why KISD wants to get your kids' minds ready for the upcoming school year with their summer take home backpack program.

From now through August 10th, you can stop by The KISD Special Programs Department at the Jackson Professional Learning Center in Killeen and check out a backpack filled with 2 books for your kids to read, an activity book, and a spiral notebook that is appropriate for the grade level your child is entering. The hope is that the materials will help your child get ready for the upcoming semester of Pre-K through 8th grade. (Spanish language backpacks are also available for grades Pre-K through 5th.)

The program asks that you return all materials including backpacks when your child has completed them, and parents will be asked to fill out a short survey on the program. For more information, call 254-336-0211 or visit the KISD website.
