Killeen police have arrested Christopher Rian Culp after he allegedly strangled his girlfriend on Sunday.

Officers were sent to a residence on Monte Carlo Lane regarding an assault. A woman said she was at the residence when Culp put his hands around her neck and squeezed until she could not speak and almost lost consciousness. She said Culp put his hands over her nose and mouth and squeezed her neck harder  while she screamed that she could not breathe and also slapped her.

Culp was staying at the residence because the two were dating.

Officers were unable to open the front door when they arrived. They saw Culp attempting to open a window and took him into custody.

Culp was arraigned on a charge of assault by strangulation, and bail was set at $50,000.
