25-year-old Johnnie Ray Randall of Killeen is behind bars after allegedly shooting at a man during a fight.

Police received a report of an aggravated assault at a home in the 300 block of Washington Street Saturday. When officers arrived, a witness told them that Randall was in the home with a firearm. An occupant gave police permission to search the home. Randall was inside, and police also found a .380 handgun in a toilet tank.

Randall told officers that he’d been assaulted by a man who hit him, then pulled a gun and began firing at him.

However, witnesses and the man Randall accused of hitting him said Randall was the aggressor. According to them, the two men were fighting before Randall hit the man, then pulled a gun and fired at him until he ran away.

Randall was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. He is being held on $150,000 bail. Randall was convicted in April of 2012 on felony charges of tampering with physical evidence.
