Killeen police were able to talk a man holed up inside a home with a gun into turning himself in after an hours-long standoff Friday morning.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 2100 block of Hunt Drive shortly after 12:55 AM. A witness said a man and woman were arguing when the man left their home, then fired shots at the house while his family was inside.

After the family escaped to safety, they were escorted away from the scene by police while the man barricaded himself in the home.

After several hours of negotiation, the man surrendered peacefully to SWAT officers and was taken to the Killeen City Jail.

The name of the 28-year-old man was being withheld Friday morning pending formal charges from the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.

No injuries were reported.
