A Killeen woman has been charged with murder in connection to the fatal shooting a two-year-old child Saturday on the porch of a home in the 4600 block of Golden Gate Drive.

Police say 26-year-old Shayla Cyriece Dearinge was arguing with the victim's mother shortly before 2:30 PM on November 5 when she drew a handgun and fired a shot, striking the child.

The child's mother rushed him to Metroplex Hospital, and he was later transferred to McLane's Children's Hospital in Temple. He was pronounced dead at 4:53 PM Saturday.

A complaint charging Dearinge with murder was issued Sunday, and she was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke Monday morning.

Dearinge's bond was set at $1 million. She is expected to be transferred to the Bell County Jail later today.

Police have not released the identity of the young victim.
