The Lake Air softball team out of Waco just punched their ticket to the Little League Softball World Series Tuesday night.

According to our news partner KWTX, the Lake Air softball team won the Southwest Region tournament title over New Mexico by a score of 6-1. The win will send the ladies up to Portland, Oregon next week, which is where the Little League Softball Wold Series will be held.

The southwest Regional title game started off early with Lake Air being in unfamiliar territory. They were trailing for the first time in the whole tournament, when New Mexico got on the board first in the third inning. New Mexico's 1-0 lead in the first inning would be short lived, and Lake Air's bats would come to life.

Lake Air's Asharah Thibodeaux hit a two run home run in the bottom of the third to get the lead for Lake Air. It was the first home run of the tournament to actually clear the fence for any team. Lake Air would finish the third inning with a 3-1 lead, and add three more runs in the 5th inning. That would be the end of anymore scoring from either team, and led to the 6-1 final.

Lake Air is beyond excited for their opportunity, and knows there are tougher games on the way. Congratulations Lake Air Softball, and bring that title back home to Texas!
